Dave Roberts - Rythm & Vocals

Born and raised in Birkenhead Merseyside. This is where his love of music started with frequent visits to The Empress at New Brighton, The Grosvenor, The Tennis Club at Leasowe and of course The Cavern. Following a stint in the RAF (40th Entry Hereford,Ternhill, Stafford, Odiham, Singapore, S Morley) he travelled many places eventually arriving in Malvern to join Helitune. Took up the guitar and Singing seriously only 8 years ago. Dave Roberts together with Dave Harrison (Lead) formed The Pontiacs and were joined by Nick Taylor on drums and Colin Barker (Bass) (Ex "The End"). Dave, the only founder member now remaining has now been joined by Rich Tandy, Iain Young and Stefan Sagopsowicz.

Rich Tandy - Lead Guitar

Born and bred in Malvern, educated at Somers Park and Chase schools. Had piano lessons as a child, and soon became very interested in pop music. Taught himself to play the guitar and formed a group called The Falcons. The name came from the Chase School Magazine, which was the school all the group members attended. The group enjoyed good popularity and played a variety of venues. After splitting up he did just bits and bobs, until recently, when a group of us formed a band called Rock of Ages. Various recent events has now found me playing with The Pontiacs, which is a very similar line up to the original rock group.

Iain Young - drums

Like many boys, Iain's first group activity was with 3 mates at school, and although he owned a simple snare and cymbal, it was on piano that he made his first contribution. Later at college, though he had by then acquired a bass drum and hi-hat, he again found himself on keyboard.

It wasn't until he returned to Malvern that he got behind the drums, playing for country dance music and subsequently in pit bands for the theatre productions for a number of years. More recently he played for a while with a folk-rock ensemble, before leaving the folk part behind in joining the Pontiacs to recreate the music of his youth.

Stefan Sagopsowicz (De Hasso)

Stefan has experimented variously with drums, keys, blues harp, guitar, vocals and bass guitar during his musical career and has ended up largely settling on the last three. As well as performing with the Pontiacs, Stefan is a regular member of the Malvern Male Voice Choir. Other recent musical ventures have included performances as the lead singer and bass player of Bisongrass and as the lead vocal and rhythm-guitar half of local blues duo 32-20. Stefan has also made a number of solo appearances as Stefan de Hasso, including supporting local singer/songwriter Sam Isaac in a session recorded for the BBC Electric Proms. He was invited to join the Pontiacs after going into Carlton Antiques and trying out a bass guitar which Dave, the lead singer, had in the shop window.
